Rachael's first time in church!

Yesterday was Rachael's first time in church. I was pretty stressed up. Should I pump? Should I latch? If I pump, I will need to carry the heavy pump around. If I latch her on, I know she won't have enough at all. Engorgement and her stomach are my greatest concerns.

Anyway, we brought the pump and left it in the car as I've decided to latch her on. We prepared formula milk powder too, in case she's not full.  If there's a need, then we will go to the car to get the pump.

So we went to nursery room 2 where there were many parents with their 0-24 months old babies.

As expected, at 5plus, she woke up from her nap wanting to drink milk. So I plucked up all my courage and brought her to nursery room 1 alone where I can breastfeed her. It's out of bounds for guys. So I was all alone in the room behind one of the curtains.

Here's the challenge:
1) The diaper bag was heavy with my big water bottle. A nursery helper had to help me carry into the room.
2) There's only one chair with a cushion behind those curtains. I got to use one hand to carry Rachael and use the other hand to get ready all the stuff.
3) Wearing the nursing cover makes it hot and difficult for me to see Rachael and latch her on.
4) It was difficult to get things from the bag or from the floor if something drops.
5) I had difficulty removing the bra for her and thereafter, putting it back on with one hand. Then from left side, change to feeding her on the right side.
6) It was messy because the milk was leaking/squirting while Rachael was struggling to get latched on.

So well, with all these challenges, thank God I survived!! I managed to latch her on for both sides. Then when she was done, I put her on the chair and wore my bra properly.

Then I moved back to room 2 to join hubby to change her very soiled and smelly diaper. Just a few minutes before service ended, she's hungry again! So we made formula for her.

Honestly speaking, I couldn't really concentrate on the sermon. Was more busy paying attention to her drinking.

After service, we went for dinner. Without noticing, time flew past and it's time to pump again. So we had to quickly make our way back home and couldn't join Jane and Serene for second round.

I guess I will get better at bringing her out. I will get better at feeding her. For now, I'm just so tired because of the power pumping I've been doing for the past two days. I'm seriously in lack of sleep.

May God grant me the strength to carry on.
